How to Send Recurring Email in Microsoft Outlook

In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to send recurring emails in Outlook using Power Automate. Power Automate is a free Microsoft service that allows you to create automated workflows between different applications and services. You can use it to automate tasks such as sending emails, updating data, creating reports, and more.

First log onto Outlook.com. Once logged in, click on the app launcher in the top left-hand corner and navigate to Power Automate. Power Automate is available to personal, work, and school Microsoft accounts.

On the Power Automate homepage, click on the Create icon.

Next, click on Schedule cloud flow. This type of flow allows you to define when and how often the email should be sent out.

This opens up a prompt where you can give your new flow a name. You can also specify when the flow should become active. By default, it becomes active as soon as you create the flow. You can also define how often the recurring email should send out. You can select from months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and even seconds. You can very easily configure it to send out weekly or monthly emails.

Once you click on Create, you can always go back and modify the recurrence. To modify the recurrence, simply click on the step in the flow. You can even modify the exact time for when the recurrence should trigger. For instance, you may want to send an email right at 8 AM in the morning in your specific time zone.

Now that we have the recurrence set up, click on Next Step. On this screen, you can choose an operation. Type in Outlook, and this will filter the group just down to Outlook. You’ll see Office 365 Outlook. If you have a paid account, you can use this option. You’ll also see Outlook.com as another option. This works if you have a free or paid account. You can choose either Office 365 Outlook or Outlook.com to set up recurring emails.

Once you choose Outlook.com, you’ll see a list of actions. Click on the Send an Email (V2) action.

You can now write out your recurring email. You can click on Show advanced options to add people to cc, bcc, or to even add attachments.

Once you’re all done, click on Save and that activates your new flow. You can test your new recurring email in the top right-hand corner by clicking on test. This sends out a test email to all of your recipients. On the left-hand side, you can click on My Flows to review all of your recurring emails.

In My Flows, you can manually send your recurring email, review a log of all the emails that have been sent, modify your recurring email, and you can also pause or delete your recurring email.

Just like that, you should now have a recurring email configured! Let me know if you have any questions on the flow in the comments below.

  1. Hi Kevin, Thank you for your educational emails you have been sending. They are very helpful. I am looking for a way of sending personalized whatsapp messages to my community members in which I will be able to separately indicate each person’s name, house address, amount owed and appeal to them to make payments. Could you, please, guide me on how to go about this?. I know UIPath RPA should be able to do this but the YouTube guides I have been watching are very confusing. Thank you. John
