Mail Merge – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mail Merge (the “App”), published by Stratvert Media, handles your data when you use it as a Google Workspace add-on.

Plain-English Summary

Mail Merge runs entirely inside your own Google account. It reads your spreadsheet, sends emails on your behalf, and that’s it. We do not store, copy, sell, or transmit your data to any external server.

What the App Accesses

Mail Merge requests the following Google permissions, used only while you are actively running a merge:

  • Send email on your behalf (gmail.send) — to deliver the personalized emails you compose.
  • Read and write your Google Sheets (spreadsheets) — to read your recipient list and merge variables.
  • Access files you select or that the App creates (drive.file) — when you click “Create example sheet” or pick a sheet to connect.
  • Read Drive files you reference as attachments (drive.readonly) — only files whose URLs you paste into your spreadsheet’s attachment column.
  • Run as a Gmail add-on (gmail.addons.execute) — required for the sidebar integration.

What We Do NOT Do

  • We do not store your email content, recipient lists, or attachments on any external server.
  • We do not share or sell any data to third parties.
  • We do not use your data to train AI models or for advertising.
  • We do not access your Drive files outside the ones you explicitly reference.

Where Your Data Lives

All processing happens inside Google Apps Script, executing under your own Google account. The only data the App stores is a single connection setting (the URL of the spreadsheet you connected most recently), saved in Google’s PropertiesService within your account. You can clear this at any time by clicking “Disconnect” in the App.

Google’s Limited Use Policy

Mail Merge’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Revoking Access

You can revoke Mail Merge’s access at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.
