How to Create Fillable PDF Form for FREE

In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to create a fillable PDF form for free using LibreOffice (previously known as OpenOffice). LibreOffice is free and open source software that allows you to create forms and export as a PDF form. When you distribute your form, others can fill out your form easily. Once they complete your form, they can print or save their responses in PDF format. You can create a form using things like check boxes, option buttons, text boxes, and drop-down lists.

  1. The video on creating a fillable form in LibreOffice is helpful but I have more questions. I would like to explain what I am trying to do and get assistance in doing so. How do I proceed? Is there a forum or an email account that I can contact?

  2. Thanks Kevin, this is great. However in the .pdf version that I made the date and currency fields do not format like they do whilst testing in LibreOffice. They are fillable but just like text which is no big deal, but why did I bother putting in different objects? It would have been nice to see your date field work.

  3. This helped a lot but there is something else I need to add to my fillable form…a signature block. I’m creating a contract that I fill out some fields, the instructor fills out some fields, and a series of people need to sign this contract. How do I do that part? The big box with a X doesn’t work for me because I think it is requiring a third-party signing source like Adobe Sign or Docusign.
